earth20

The Brief

EartH20 - being Earth H20 (water) was developed as a branding and packaging design solution to an overwhelming environmental issue - plastic pollution. There are millions of tonnes of plastic ending up in our ocean’s each year, which is creating a toxic ecosystem for our native marine life. In response to this, I created an environmentally sustainable solution - a water bottle that is easily recycled and biodegradable. It’s made out of (recycled) cardboard and (biodegradable) polymers that can easily break down in the environment. This eliminates the need for human compliance in thoughtfully disposing of plastic water bottles.

The Logo

The typeface chosen for logo name was ‘Andale Mono’. It’s a simple, yet original font that is almost like a basic, sans serif version of a newspaper font. This aligns with the feel of the brand I was developing, which uses recycled paper for the packaging and label. I also really like the ‘O’ of the typeface, as it’s a little different and bold, but doesn’t overpower the image design.

The Stylesheet

The four toned CMYK swatches chosen were selected samples from the waves artwork, as I wanted the logos colour theme to coincide with this. I also made sure the shades of blue stepped down enough in contrast and depth, representing a natural wave in the ocean, that would usually be lighter on top and darkest underneath.
